Beached whale saved by Chile locals

Residents of Arica, Chile, mobilized to save a whale that was beached, November 3, 2016.

Every now and then, we come across stories of whales getting stuck in shallow waters. This time, a huge Minke whale was washed up on the Chilean coast.

The animal was around 12-meters long and is thought to weigh 8 tons. Strangers worked together to save the beached Whale.

Fisherman and residents used a rope to move the mammal back to the Pacific Ocean. It was a little bit of a struggle. But they managed to free the massive whale.

Luckily, the animal only suffered superficial wounds as it was beached for a long time.
