The 22nd Press Exhibition has kicked off in the Iranian capital, with President Hassan Rouhani attending the official opening ceremony.

Titled “Transparency, Honesty,” this year’s international event features some 900 media outlets putting on display their products at 620 booths at Tehran's Imam Khomeini Grand Prayer Grounds (Mosalla).

The exhibition will run until November 11.

The event will also feature several photo exhibitions, among them the Iran and South Korea photo expo.

Speaking in the opening ceremony of the exhibition, Rouhani said that some falsely believe that security could only be ensured with missiles, planes, and tanks.

Although these are necessary, today’s insecurity in the region could not be tackled only through weapons and diplomacy, he stressed.

For Iran to become immune to terrorism “coherence among groups of various faiths in the country should be preserved and this is mainly done by media outlets,” President Rouhani stated.

"What has created security in the country and society is awareness, vigilance, consciousness and national coherence," the Iranian chief executive further pointed out.

“If terrorism would be appealing to a society, or if a nation or part of a nation approves of the call of terrorism, neither foreign policy, nor military might could solve the issue of security,” he added.
