US pursues to partition Mideast states to protect Israel: Analyst

The United States has hatched a vicious plot to partition countries across the strategic Middle East region in order to "protect Israel" and "steal their natural resources," says a former US Army officer from San Francisco, California.

Scott Bennett, a former US Army psychological warfare officer and counter-terrorism analyst made the remarks in an interview with Press TV on Wednesday.

The US and its closest ally Israel are “strategically thinking about dissolving the regimes of the Middle East Muslim countries to make them less effective,” Bennett said, adding, “They don’t have to destroy them. They simply have to make them ineffective. “

The analyst went on to say that the US has attempted to implement a more than two-decade-old Yinon plan through strategies envisaged to ensure Israel’s regional superiority, adding, “That is the exact conclusion you make when you common sensibly analyze the past 15 years and you can look at the origins of this sort of plan back in the 1980s”

The US has ignited wars, conducted airstrikes and fomented internal religious divisions in order to further its nasty agenda across the Mideast and North African regions over the past years, he noted.

Following the 9/11 attacks in New York and Washington, DC, the US strategists decided to damage or destroy at least seven countries in five years in order to advance this malicious plot, Bennett said.

The analyst however stressed that Washington has failed to achieve its objective of maintaining “hegemony” in the troubled region, saying,  “Well I think it is very naive and it is very delusional and distorted mind that thinks we can go throughout the Middle East regimes and destroy them and then resurrect them.”

Bennett concluded by saying that policies adopted by administration of President Barack Obama have tarnished the US image across the Mideast and elsewhere. “We are witnessing something that is very destructive and tragic because the United States under the Obama regime has really destroyed our reputation in the Middle East and no one trusts the US.”

The remarks come as a senior adviser to Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has warned of plots hatched by the US and its regional allies to divide the Middle East countries, saying such a move aims to safeguard the Israeli regime’s security.

“The Americans and some of their regional allies are trying to sow discord and break up the region and want to partition and weaken big, strong and ancient countries in the region in order to [ensure] Israel’s security and meet their own excessive demands,” Ali Akbar Velayati, the Leader’s top adviser on international affairs, said in Tehran on Tuesday.
