4 people killed, 11 injured in two US shootings

Two new shootings in New York and Maryland have killed 4 people and injured 11 others.

Two deadly shooting in the US states of Maryland and New York have left 4 people dead and at least 11 others injured, police say.

One of the shootings occurred early Sunday at an apartment complex in Capitol Heights, Maryland, where two people, including at least one teenager were killed, Prince George's County police said.

Four other people were also injured, according to a police spokesman, who said the authorities were baffled as to what caused the incident.

According to TV station WUSA, at least one of the victims was in critical condition, while the rest of the injured were all seriously hurt.

“We are trying to piece together why six people were shot, two of them fatally,” police spokesman Tyler Hunter said, adding that no one had yet been taken into custody over the shooting.

Horror turns real at NY Halloween party

In another shooting on Sunday morning, two teenagers were killed at a Halloween party in Newburgh, New York.

The shooting took place inside a commercial building. One of the victims was identified as an 18-year-old African American girl.

The shooter or shooters had fled the scene. Police were not sure if they were looking for one assailant or more.

Police did not disclose the number of the injured, but according to the parents of some party-goers, at least 7 other people were recovering from their gunshot wounds at the hospital.

Police had set up a hotline so that people with information could come forward and help with the case.

The shootings came as law enforcement agencies across the US were on a manhunt mission to find Michael Vance, a fugitive who managed to run away after killing two people and injuring three others, including two police officers, in Oklahoma last week.

According to the Gun Violence Project, nearly 12,200 people had been killed in over 47,000 instances of gun violence across the US, since the start of 2016.
