US Republican vice presidential candidate Mike Pence's plane slides off runway at LaGuardia Airport in New York in heavy rain.
The plane carrying Pence and dozens of other passengers ended up on the grass next to the runway in the incident which took place on Thursday night.
None of the 37 passengers on board were injured. The airport has been closed until further notice.
Television footage showed Pence standing in the rain near the aircraft among emergency vehicles, talking to police and other officials.
"We could feel the plane moving, and it was just not a natural landing that you experience," said Elizabeth Landers, a CNN producer, who was on the plane.
“When we landed here we had pretty hard landing and then we felt the back of the plane start to fishtail and you could just feel the plane moving in a way that was not straight on the runway like a normal landing would go," she added.
“The plane continued to proceed down ... then we came to a very, very sort of quick and harsh halt on the runway," she stated.
A spokesperson for the Federal Aviation Administration said it will investigate the incident.
According to reports, Trump called Pence from his motorcade in Ohio, and said he was happy that everyone was safe.
The Republican nominee is "very glad everyone on board the plane is safe," a spokeswoman of Trump said.
