Iranian sportsman Farzollah Rostami has run at an amazing speed at Yerevan Half Marathon in Armenia, and notched a third-place finish at the end of the international sporting event.

On Sunday evening, Rostami ran a distance of 21.1 kilometers (13.1 miles) in one hour and 14 minutes to earn the bronze medal.

Georgian marathon runner Daviti Kharazishvili finished the contest in 1:09 hours to scoop the highest honor and gold medal.

The 24-year-old athlete was followed by a representative from the host country, who clocked 1:12 hours and claimed the second place.

More than 500 amateurs and professional runners from various world countries took part in Yerevan Half Marathon in Armenia on October 16, 2016. Only 298 runners managed to sprint across the finish line.

A half marathon is a road running event of 21.0975 kilometers (13.1094 miles), which is half the distance of a conventional marathon.

Participation in half marathons has grown increasingly popular since 2003, partly because the race does not require the same level of training that a marathon does.
