Russia signaling US belligerent policies will lead to war: Analyst

Russia is sending a clear signal to the United States that Washington’s policies are “belligerent” and might lead to war, says Bill Jones of the Executive Intelligence Review.

“The situation has now changed with all the belligerent talk coming out of Washington, coming out of the White House, the Defense Department, sanctions against Russia, the breakdown of the agreement that was made between Kerry and Lavrov with regard to Syria, and the threatening measures that are being taken by NATO in bringing NATO troops right up to the border of Russia, it is a serious situation,” the analyst told Press TV.

The comments came after Russia announced the suspension of a nuclear and energy sector cooperation agreement with the US over Washington-imposed sanctions due to the crisis in Ukraine.

The two countries signed the agreement on scientific and technical cooperation in the utilization of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes in September 2013.

Jones said this is an “ominous development” which indicates a pre-war situation.

He also stated the pace of confrontation and tensions has been significantly increased between Moscow and Washington.

The analyst went on to say the US has to try and “repair the damage” that has been done to its relationship with Russia.

He further argued that Russia has dealt very well with the dangerous policies coming out of the United States.

However, he said, there will be limits to that unless there is a change on the part of Washington to avoid confrontation with Russia.

The US has imposed an array of sanctions against Russia since 2014, when clashes between the US-backed government in Kiev and pro-Russia forces erupted in eastern Ukraine. The US and EU have accused Russia of playing a role in Ukraine’s conflict. Moscow, however, denies the allegations.
