Sharapova criticizes ITF in her doping case
Former world No.1 Maria Sharapova has every reason to celebrate after her doping ban was reduced from 2 years to 15 months by the Court of Arbitration for Sport. But the Russian has criticized the International Tennis Federation for the handling of her doping case.
The 29-year-old was handed the 2 year suspension by the ITF after testing positive for Meldonium, a substance which was banned since the beginning of 2016.
Sharapova will now be allowed to return to the Sport on April 26th, next year. But while speaking on an American show, the former Wimbledon Champion criticized the ITF's handling of her case, claiming it was not neutral, unlike the CAS, and that they were trying to make an example of her.
