Argentina have defeated Russia in a thrilling 9-goal final match of 2016 Futsal World Cup to win the country’s maiden title.

Eder Lima opened the scoring for the Russians with 5 minutes remaining in the 1st half, but Argentina responded quickly as Alamiro Vaporaki capped a great teamwork with a tap-in to make it 1-all.

Leandro Cuzzolino scored late in the first half to move Argentina in front, but Lima’s 9th goal of the tournament tied it at 2-all early into the second half.

Argentina’s Alan Brandi scored a quick-fire brace before Constantino Vaporaki made it 5-2 in the 39th minute, as the Russians were pushing for a goal.

Dmitri Lyskov pulled one back for Russia moments later, and Lima became the first ever player to score a hat-trick in a Futsal World Cup final to make it 5-4.

However, it was too late and the Russians failed to complete a comeback, as La Albiceleste were crowned world champions.
