La Liga: Real Madrid beat Espanyol 2-0

Spanish giants Real Madrid have posted a precious 2-nil win against hosts Espanyol at Alekhandro Hernandez Stadium.

Real Madrid made the breakthrough in the second minute of stoppage time at the end of the first period when James Rodriguez created a couple of challenges on the edge of the box before finding the bottom corner of the net with an excellent low drive.

Karim Benzema then doubled Real's lead in the 71st minute as Vazquez picked him out with a precise low cross.

The capital's giants have now moved above Barcelona to the top of the table ahead of next week's showdown with Villarreal.
