Gunmen kill two policemen in Saudi Arabia: Report

Unknown gunmen have shot and killed two policemen in eastern Saudi Arabia, Saudi media claim.

According to Saudi-owned news channel Al Arabiya, the incident took place on Sunday, when assailants allegedly opened fire on a police vehicle patrolling in the city of Dammam in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province.

The Al Arabiya report revealed no further details but other reports said the attackers fled the scene after the shooting.

No person or group has so far claimed responsibility for the deadly attack.

Saudi Arabia has seen a spate of deadly shootings and bombings targeting security forces or the country’s Shia minority over the past year.

The Saudi government has often blamed the Takfiri terrorist group of Daesh for the attacks. This is while the Riyadh regime itself is widely believed to be supporting the activities of Daesh in terrorist hot spots in the Middle East.

The various terrorist groups operating in Syria, Iraq and elsewhere in the world practice Wahhabism, a radical strand of “ideology” preached by government-sanctioned Saudi clerics.

Zalmay Khalilzad, a former US diplomat in the Middle East, recently revealed that a Saudi official had told him in a private conversation that Saudi officials had in fact been supporting extremist groups since way back in the 1960s and that Saudi denials of such backing was part of attempts to “mislead” the world.
