Iran have registered a remarkable comeback victory, after battling back from 2 goals down, to beat Arch Rivals Saudi Arabia 3-2, at the AFC Under-16 Championship Group A Opener in the Indian city of Margao.

Saudi Arabia were the better side in the 1st half and took the lead 5 minutes into the match through Mansor Al Beshe before Dhari Al Anazi double their lead just before the Interval.

However, Team Iran stepped up a gear in the 2nd half, and reduced the Deficit in the 47th minute as Allahyar Sayyad broke through on goal and rifled the ball emphatically into the back of the net. The Persians needed 10 more minutes to level the match when Mohammad Sharifi took full advantage of a goal-mouth scramble and slid home Iran’s Equalizer. Alireza Asadabadi delivered the death blow to the Saudis when he found himself one on one with the goalie, and finished off the match at 3-2, to spark frenzied celebrations on the Iran bench.
