Trump was sued by US government over discrimination: Analyst
US Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump was sued by the US government in the 1970s for housing discrimination against African Americans, says an American writer and political commentator.
“The Republican party has nominated an accused rapist,” said Mickey Z., a writer, editor, blogger and novelist living in New York City.
“The same man was sued by the US Justice Department in 1973 for systematically discriminating against blacks in housing rentals,” Mickey Z. told Press TV on Friday.
During his campaign, Trump has been endorsed by white supremacist groups like the Ku Klux Klan (KKK), he added.
Mickey Z. said Trump’s Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton is a “corporate-funded war criminal, but then again so is every US president for the last century.”
The race between Trump and Clinton in some battleground states is tightening as Clinton loses her lead over Trump, according to a new poll.
Battleground states, also called swing states, are states in which no single nominee or political party has overwhelming support in securing that state's electoral college votes.
In presidential elections, such states receive significant attention from the media and the campaign of political parties, since winning these states is the best opportunity for a candidate to gain electoral votes.
Clinton's lead has largely vanished despite a difficult month for Trump, which saw an overhaul of his campaign staff, criticism of his campaign strategy and announcements of support for Clinton from several high-profile Republicans.
Clinton’s growing unpopularity follows renewed focus on her use of a private email server while she served as secretary of state, as well as alleged conflicts of interest over her connections to the Clinton Foundation fundraising.
A CNN/ORC Poll released on Wednesday shows Donald Trump has closed the gap with Clinton and leads her nationally in the race for the White House by two points.
Like previous surveys in the past several months, the poll also shows that both candidates remain mostly unliked, with majorities saying they have an unfavorable view of each candidate.
Polls taken in the past several months have shown that Clinton and Trump are ranked among the most unpopular presidential candidates in America’s history.
