Dutchman Robert Gesink has won stage 14 of the Tour of Spain while Colombian rider Nairo Quintana retained the overall leader's red jersey.

Gesink, who missed this year's Tour de France due to injury, crossed the line in a time of 5 hours, 43 minutes, 24 seconds to win a grueling stage 14 on Saturday.

It was the first-ever grand Tour stage victory for the 30-year-old Dutchman. Frenchman Kenny Elissonde and Russia’s Egor Silin finished 2nd and third, respectively.

Meanwhile, Quintana preserved his 54-second lead at the top of the general classification as the Colombian and second-placed Chris Froome finished together, 1 minute and 47 seconds off the pace.
