Trump censures Clinton ‘bad judgment’ after Abedin’s separation

Huma Abedin, the vice chairwoman of Hillary Clinton's 2016 campaign for US president

GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump censures his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton for her “bad judgment” following her aide’s separation from her husband over a sexting scandal.

His comments followed a Monday statement by Huma Abedin, the vice chairwoman of Clinton's 2016 campaign for president and a long-time top adviser to the former secretary of state.

“After long and painful consideration and work on my marriage, I have made the decision to separate from my husband,” said Clinton’s top aide.

The statement was released in reaction to Sunday reports about her husband, former US House Democratic Representative Anthony Weiner, sending a woman a photo of his crotch with his toddler son in the background on July 31, 2015.

“Anthony (pictured below) and I remain devoted to doing what is best for our son, who is the light of our life. During this difficult time, I ask for respect for our privacy,” Abedin said.

This is not the first time Weiner is embarrassing those around him. He resigned from the US Congress in 2011 after another sexting scandal.

At the time, he apologized, vowed to change his behavior, and launched a bid to be New York’s mayor in 2013.

Trump took the chance to question Clinton’s judgment following the latest scandal.

“Huma is making a very wise decision," Trump said in a statement. "I know Anthony Weiner well, and she will be far better off without him."

“I only worry for the country in that Hillary Clinton was careless and negligent in allowing Weiner to have such close proximity to highly classified information,” he noted. “Who knows what he learned and who he told? It’s just another example of Hillary Clinton’s bad judgment. It is possible that our country and its security have been greatly compromised by this.”

Earlier this month, the New York billionaire had called Weiner a "pervert sleaze."
