The war in Syria this past week moved toward a serious escalation over the flashpoint city of Hasakah.

US abandons Saudis?

The US has cut its personnel who supported the Saudi regime in its war on Yemen from about 45 officers  to 4 or 5.

Turkey-Israel rapprochement

In late June, Turkey and Israel reached an agreement to normalize ties, which had been strained in 2010 when Israeli commandos stormed a Gaza-bound aid ship killing 10 Turkish activists. On Saturday Turkish lawmakers ratified the deal formally ending a 6 year rift between Ankara and Tel Aviv.
