Here is a round-up of global news developments:

    • The UN warns about the mounting number of civilian deaths in Yemen. A spokeswoman for the world body’s rights agency says over two-hundred people have been killed in Saudi attacks in Yemen over the past four months. Nearly 96-hundred Yemenis have been killed since Saudi Arabia invaded their country in March, 2015.
    • A convoy of 40 trucks carrying food supplies has arrived in Syria’s northwestern flashpoint city of Aleppo. Syrian officials say people can access the food at storage places. The newly-arrived supplies are said to be sufficient for two months. Tens of thousands of civilians are facing food and medicine shortages in Aleppo.
    • An Israeli activist group has accused Tel Aviv of stealing private property in the occupied territories. The Peace Now NGO says Israel is planning to relocate settlers living in the illegal outpost of Amona north of Ramallah to a nearby Palestinian plot of land. Israel's land grabs are against international law.
    • The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs says Israel has demolished more Palestinian structures so far this year than it did in the entire 2015. According to OCHA, at least 726 Palestinian buildings have been destroyed and 1020 people displaced since the beginning of 2016.
    • People rally in northern Nigeria to express support for jailed leader of the Islamic Movement Sheikh Ibrahim al-Zakzaky. They marched in the city of Kano, urging authorities to release him. Zakzaky was detained after Nigeria's army raided his residence in 2015. Hundreds of his supporters died in the attack.
    • Thailand beefs up security following Thursday and Friday’s explosions in the Southeast Asian country. Police have arrested two suspects for questioning. Eleven bomb blasts hit three of the most popular tourist resorts in southern Thailand. The explosions left four people dead and dozens more wounded.
    • More than 70 Republicans have urged their party to stop funding Donald Trump's presidential campaign. They say Trump's chances of being elected are evaporating due to his quote-divisiveness, recklessness and incompetence. They have also called for an immediate shift of party funding to Senate and the House of Representatives’ elections.
    • The Eurostat statistics agency says economic growth in the eurozone slowed to point-three percent down from point-six percent in the three months to January. Analysts blame the fall on the Brexit and a poor economic performance in France and Italy. The German economy, however, gained point-four percent in the second quarter.
