Gamma ray bursts from black holes can wipe out life on Earth

Experts say that black holes can emit gamma ray bursts that are so strong it can obliterate the Earth.

Researchers say bursts of energy emitted from black holes could wipe out life on Earth in a moment.

A black hole releases more energy in one second than the sun will in its entire 10-billion-year lifetime. These bursts of electro-magnetic waves, called "death from space," can travel billions of light years.

Like lasers firing in space, these waves can cut through galaxies, leaving a trail of destruction behind.

Scientists have warned such emissions could wipe out the earth’s ozone layer, exposing life to all sorts of radiation.
