US Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton will not do anything to change America’s “rigged” political system because she is a part of it herself, says an analyst in Washington.
Susanne Posel, chief editor of OccupyCorporatism, told Press TV on Wednesday that Clinton’s nomination was made possible only through “collusion” and “fraud” in the primary run and this undermines her rise to the position as the first ever female nominee for a major party.
As a former New York senator, first lady and secretary of state, Clinton managed to secure the nomination of the Democratic Party at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia on Wednesday.
“Clinton’s nomination means two things,” said Posel. “On the face it means that the US, after electing an African American man twice to the presidency, is willing to entertain the idea of putting the White House in the hands of a woman.”
“On the other side,” Posel said Clinton’s nomination despite “voter fraud” during the primary race showed that “in order for a woman to win the nomination of a major political party like the Democratic Party, there has to be collusion and chicanery.”
In many primary contests independents and liberals that were not affiliated with the Democratic Party were unable to vote and choose their favorite candidate, which in this case was Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, Posel noted.
When asked what she thinks about Senator Elizabeth Warren’s acknowledgment of the “rigged” political system in Washington, Posel said as much as that statement is true, Clinton is not the right person to fix it.
“Hillary Clinton is not going to change the system, she is part of the system,” the analyst said. “As a woman I think it is fantastic that a woman was elected as a major party nominee, however, that is not the right woman.”
To back her argument, Posel referred to DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s resignation from the position following an email leak by the whistle-blowing website Wikileaks that revealed a systematic movement inside the DNC to undermine Sanders in favor of Clinton.
“What did Clinton do? Clinton had the perfect opportunity to distance herself from Debbie Wasserman Schultz...and show the people that she didn’t have any part in that collusion to take down Bernie Sanders,” Posel said. “But she hired Schultz to work for her campaign.”
“Why? Because Hillary Clinton takes care of her own,” she argued. “And that shows the American people that she does not care about us.”
“She cares about getting in a position, having that power and being able to play that role,” Posel continued.
