Press TV has interviewed Scott Bennett, former US army psychological warfare officer in San Francisco, to discuss the recent remarks made by United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and German Chancellor Angela Merkel against Iran's ballistic missile launches.

A rough transcription of the interview appears below.

Press TV: How do you see what is going on? On the one hand we have heard from the Iranian side time and time again that there has been no violation of the JCPOA and of course the other side has hinted from time to time that that was true but also as we are seeing now hinting that perhaps it is not true that Iran is not abiding by the spirit of the JCPOA. How do you see this? What is going on in your perspective?

Bennett: First and foremost Iran has a duty and an obligation to its people, to its culture, to its land, to protect its people, its culture, its land. That is the most important mission that Iran has and it does it through every warrior weapon at its disposal. It is a defensive obligation that all countries have.

So Iran’s activities are consistent with the natural law of nations, natural law of humanity and that is the A priority of a government. So Iran is completely consistent with its own obligations to its people. It is not violating any international law, it is not violating the laws of nations, that’s it, period. Now why this is being done within the United States, within Germany, within the United Nations, it is very clear that Angela Merkel and Germany is falling apart, it is disintegrating. Angela Merkel is going to be voted out of office very soon. The United States realizes that and it is becoming paranoid.

The German intelligence apparatus simply copies and pastes what the CIA and the NSA and the United States tells it to say and the United States is trying desperately at the behest of Israel’s Mossad Zionist warmongers who are desperate to destabilize and weaken Iran, they have been pushing this political war, this economic war, this psychological war and they have never relented, they have never stopped. So they are trying to guilt trip Iran into saying unless you threw down every defensive weapon, you are not being constructive, you are not playing nice, you are not being completely open and transparent.

Press TV: What is the overall goal then of doing that? What would be the overall goal? Does the United States want a war with Iran? Tell me your perspective.

Bennett: I am very saddened and sickened to say I think Hillary Clinton does want a war with Iran. I do not think Donald Trump does. I think Hillary Clinton at the behest of its American-Israel Political Action Conference is trying to set up herself as president that could then be used to say like Saddam Hussein before us Iran is refusing to disclose its nuclear weapons program and all we need is to use history to say look at what the United States lied about regarding Saddam Hussein and they will tell the same lies about Iran and trying to do the same thing to Iran that they did to Saddam Hussein in Iraq.

We know where that led and where was the United Nations? Did the United Nations Secretary General come in and defend Saddam Hussein and the Iraqi people and say, ‘No you will not do this, you will not go any further’? No, the United Nations had no testicular fortitude and they had no strength whatsoever.

The only nations that do are Russia, China, and Iran and they need to bind together with the BRICS nations to say you will not threaten and guilt trip Iran into surrendering its defensive right, its missiles and its other armaments meant to defend its people. Iran will be very confident and transparent.
