A Palestinian has sustained serious injuries after he purportedly rammed his car into an Israeli military vehicle in the occupied West Bank.
The incident took place outside the illegal Israeli settlement of Neve Daniel, located south of al-Quds (Jerusalem) and just west of Bethlehem, on Wednesday.
The alleged car ramming attack also left three Israeli soldiers in the military vehicle lightly wounded.
An Israeli army spokesperson told the Ma'an news agency that the Palestinian, who was driving in an Israeli-plated car, crashed into the Israeli military vehicle, causing the latter to flip over.
The Israeli army further claimed that initial inquiry showed Wednesday’s incident was “intentional.”
Meanwhile, Israeli police spokesperson, Luba al-Samri, said the Palestinian, who suffered critical injuries, was evacuated for treatment.
The occupied Palestinian territories have been the scene of heightened tensions since August 2015, when Israel imposed restrictions on the entry of Palestinian worshipers into the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East al-Quds.
The al-Aqsa Mosque is the third holiest site for Muslims after Masjid al-Haram in Mecca and Masjid al-Nabawi in Medina.
More than 220 Palestinians, including children and women, have lost their lives at the hands of Israeli forces in what is regarded as the third Palestinian Intifada (uprising) since the beginning of last October.
