Iran launches ‘Pars Today’ news outlet

The Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting officially launches Pars Today news outlet on July 5, 2016.

In line with its policies to expand its reach across the world, the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) has officially launched a news establishment providing the latest developments across the globe in tens of languages.

The IRIB president, Abdolali Ali-Askari, inaugurated Pars Today news agency on Tuesday on the eve of the auspicious occasion of Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy fasting month of Ramadan.

Director of the IRIB World Service, Mohammad Akhgari, was also present at the inaugural ceremony.

Speaking after the ceremony, Ali-Askari said the IRIB is equipping itself to counter a widespread Western media campaign targeting the Islamic Republic.

“The Islamic Iran is facing a broad media war and the IRIB is at the forefront of this war,” the IRIB president said.

He added that the Pars Today is a new media that can influence this battle.

Pars Today offers the products of 36 IRIB World Service radio channels in 32 languages as well as the news outputs of the World Service television channels including the English and Arabic channels Press TV and  Al-Alam.

The Persian-language website of Pars Today was also went online on Tuesday.
