US military proposal to Russia: A desperate move

The war in Syria is set to witness some surprise turns. The administration of US President Barack Obama has reportedly offered to cooperate with Russia in fighting certain terrorist groups in Syria. It has in turn demanded Russia to get the Syrian government to stop bombing other terrorist groups that Washington supports. This has already drawn criticisms by observers. They say the surprise military cooperation deal that the US has put on table is merely meant to protect the dangerous terrorist groups linked to the al-Qaeda terror network. And by that they mean the Takfiri Jaish al-Fatah group and its notorious subsidiary al-Nusra Front.

Rohingya attacks while UN officer in Myanmar

Anti-Muslim sentiment is brewing in the country as mosques have once again become the target of hate crimes by Buddhist extremists. A mob wielding weapons razed a mosque in the north of Myanmar. Villagers in Kachin state ransacked the mosque before burning it down. This is the second attack on a mosque in just over a week. The attack coincided with the end of a 12-day visit by UN rights investigator Yanghee Lee who voiced concern over the situation of Muslims in Myanmar. The UN envoy also held the government of Myanmar accountable to its international human rights obligations.

An attack that targeted a western location: the message from the Daesh to the western governments, with some victims hacked to death. Daesh has been spreading in this region, and it no longer be ignored. By some accounts, the terrorist group has more sympathizers here due to the vulnerability of the general population. Bangladesh attack could also suggest a shift to southeast Asia since it is losing ground in the Middle East.
