A Labour coup: An attack on Corbyn

The aftershocks of UK's vote to quit the European Union continue. Now Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn is in the crisis zone as he faces growing calls to step down. Described as a coup, this came after more than half of the shadow cabinet of the Labour party resigned on Sunday and Monday in protest at his leadership. And many are already describing this as an internal revolt. It appears that Corbyn's decades-long political career is in troubled waters. He did not get a confidence vote from within his own party, even though it is non-binding.

Turkey's reconciliation with Israel

After months of secret talks, Israel and Turkey, the old-time close allies, have announced they have normalized diplomatic relations to end a bitter six-year rift. The bilateral ties between Turkey and Israeli cabinet broke following the 2010 Israeli naval attack on a Gaza-bound aid flotilla. The attack killed a number of activists including nine Turkish citizens.

Saudi Arabia US sell-out

Saudi Arabia’s second crown prince, Muhammad Bin Salman, who recently visited the US for talks with President Barack Obama and other high-ranking American officials also held talks with top CEOs of US companies. Apart from what has been called a power struggle in the kingdom, the visit is said to be a sign that Saudi Arabia is trying to improve the Saudi image which has been tarnished by Riyadh’s actions and its part in the promotion of the notorious religious school of thought known as Wahabism which is to blame for the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East.
