Clinton is the most war mongering of all US candidates: Activist

Many prominent Republican Party war hawks are publicly endorsing Hillary Clinton because she is the most war mongering of all the US presidential candidates, an American political analyst and activist says.

Myles Hoenig, a Green Party candidate for Congress, made the remarks in a phone interview with Press TV on Wednesday, following the release of the Quinnipiac University poll which shows Clinton has a slender national lead over Trump in the race for the White House.

“Although polls can show trends, often they are more of a snapshot at the moment in how people feel. It’s not surprising that Clinton leads Trump at this point but that it’s by only 2 points is interesting. Trump has had a lousy week and Clinton, on the other hand, has not had a lot of Sanders’ attacks to diminish her in the eyes of the general public,” Hoenig said.

“Recent reports are out that Trump never expected to win and that he was hoping for coming in second as a protest candidate. Many dignitaries in the Republican Party are deserting him and notable Republican war hawks are publicly endorsing Clinton. That’s not surprising as she is the most war mongering of all the candidates out there during this election cycle,” he added.

“Trump has also been showing how inept he is when it comes to understanding world politics and is being openly ridiculed for it. Just look at his praise of Scotland voting to leave the European Union, when in fact, they strongly supported remaining. The colorful tweets attacking him have done nothing to lend any credibility to him,” the activist stated.

Clinton having a free ride

“Clinton has had a free ride these past 2 weeks. With Senator Warren now endorsing and stumping for her, she’s on the offensive against Trump. How that plays out in future polls remain to be seen. On the left, Warren is seen as a traitor, supporting the candidate that most reflects what she has opposed that brought her into the Senate. Warren is supposed to be the attack dog for the banking industry yet here she is now supporting the banking industry’s number one candidate. Warren is taking a hit and that could easily reflect on Clinton,” Hoenig said.

“Sanders has been quiet lately. One doesn’t know if he will endorse Clinton or not, or when, but he has openly stated he’d vote for her. His message and movement may be growing, but he’s being marginalized,” he pointed out.

“The Democratic platform is Clinton’s positions -- all the way. Considering that platforms are usually just paper, Clinton clearly has the upper hand in promoting her views on war, Israel, and the 1% agenda for maintaining a non-living wage and destitution and subservience of the younger generation to the banks for their lifetime. Never a supporter of universal health care, such as Medicare for All, her delegates on the platform committee has shelved any plans for Single Payer, a leading Sanders’ proposal,” he said.

Jill Stein gets mainstream publicity

“This poll is a snapshot. We have yet to have either of the 2 political conventions and the Green Party convention is coming up after the Democrats’.  Jill Stein is the probable candidate, winning most of the states delegates for the Green Party convention. Because of the incredible dysfunction of this election for all candidates, Stein has had an unusual amount of mainstream publicity, including CNN and others,” Hoenig said.

“This will only increase as it gets closer to her convention and then afterwards, and closer to Labor Day when most people start really paying attention to national elections, and she is the Green Party nominee. If she can get as much as 15% of public opinion, she would be allowed on stage with the others as they debate heading into November,” he added.  

“Trump is a buffoon. Johnson of the Libertarians would likely draw Republican voters. Clinton is viewed with utter contempt for her dishonesty. It is possible that Jill Stein of the Green Party could come out on top, at least in the eyes of those watching the debates,” the analyst concluded.
