Choosing resistance

The Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas, has rejected a so-called peace initiative with the Israelis that had been adopted by France. Hamas says France's solution ignores the rights and the interests of the Palestinians.  This appears to have dealt a blow to the already fragile hopes for a solution of the conflict between the Palestinians and the Israelis.

Turkey's blues

Reports say relations between Ankara and Damascus have improved following recent secret talks by the two sides. Both sides are said to be showing willingness for dialogue. The talks have been mediated by the Algerian government, which, along with some other Arab governments, has taken a soft stance on Syria.  Turkey, alongside Saudi Arabia and Qatar, has been tough on Damascus.

Israel prefers Daesh

The war in Syria is reaching a critical stage. Syrian army, backed by Iran and Russia, are making significant gains against Daesh terrorists. And that seems to have unnerved Israel. The Israeli military intelligence chief, Major General Herzi Halevy, has revealed details about Tel Aviv's concerns about ISIL's setbacks in Syria, saying that “Israel does not want the situation in Syria to end with the defeat of ISIL."
