Colombian artist displays artworks inspired by war
A New York gallery has put on display the works of a Colombian artist who uses bullet shells, pencils, books and piano keys as his main medium of art.
Federico Uribe was born in Bogota in 1962, were constant internal conflicts have led to millions of displaced people. The ever-present crisis in Columbian lives has been the artist’s main inspiration. On using bullets, he tries to emphasize beauty in pain.
Federico’s works are so well-made and lifelike that produce a sense of awe in visitors. He buys the bullets by weight from a metal recycling company in Miami. A leopard in real measures, a goose in flight, and a turtle made of a World War II helmet are all part of his bullet art works.
The exhibition was first scheduled to end on June 11 but due to great feedback they got, it has been extended until the end of July.
