Scuffles break out between supporters and opponents of presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump as he blasts the US president for his endorsement of presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.

Police arrested at least five people during scuffles between anti-Trump protesters and his supporters outside of the Richmond Coliseum in Richmond, Virginia, where the Republican was delivering a speech on Friday.

The demonstrators chanted, "No KKK, no fascists, no Trump" as they marched around the arena.

Protests at Trump's recent rallies have turned violent in several California cities, including one event last week in San Jose where anti-Trump demonstrators attacked several supporters of the GOP candidate.

During the Friday event, Trump spoke in front of thousands of his supporters, hitting out at US President Barack Obama's endorsement of Clinton’s presidential bid.

He said, “You have a president coming out and endorsing somebody who is under criminal investigation. Is this supposed to be the way the country supposed to be?”

Trump was referring to Clinton’s use of personal email for communicating classified data during her tenure as the former secretary of state.

“There is so much corruption. If the system works, she is not allowed to run. It is really unfair for the other people,” Trump said.

Recently, Trump slammed Clinton for her foreign policy ‘debacles,’ calling for her to be put behind bars over her “bad judgments.”

He is set to hold more events Saturday in two other swing states, Florida and Pennsylvania.

This year’s US presidential race has been specially marred by countless instances of scandals, mudslinging and onstage vulgarity, where rivals have time and again seized opportunities to blacken their opponents and push them down the gutter.
