Patients force-fed live fish to heal asthma in India
Indians are famous for traditional medical treatments. This time about 100,000 people gathered in Hyderabad to receive an infamous cure for breathing problem.
The treatment works in this way: the patient is given live fish to swallow. The small fish's mouths are covered in a yellow 'medicine' and then they are swallowed by the patient.
Due to the fish's bad smell, patients are assisted by others who hold their mouth and pinch their nose as they swallow the live animal.
The treatment is offered by a family who has been administering their ancestral medicine for 170 years. The family members believe the medicine can only be delivered on a special day determined by astrologers.
