Daesh prevents civilians from leaving Fallujah

  • Daesh terrorists continue to prevent civilians from leaving the Iraqi city of Fallujah as the army is preparing to liberate the central part of the city from the Takfiris. Those who’ve managed to escape say Daesh wants to use the civilians as human shields.
  • The United Nations has removed Saudi Arabia and its allies from the group of states blacklisted by the UN for killing Yemeni children and violating their rights. On Thursday, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon blamed more than 60 percent of Yemeni child deaths on Rhiyadh and its allies.
  • Iran's judiciary chief has called the U-S quote-the biggest state sponsor of terrorism. Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli-Larijani said the U-S continues supporting Takfiri terrorist groups in the region and beyond. He also stressed that the Iranian nation will stand firm in the face of what he called hostile policies of Washington.
  • Over a billion Muslims around the world are observing the holy fasting month of Ramadan. Several countries including Turkey, the UAE and Syria marked the beginning of the holy month on Monday, while in several other countries including Iran and Iraq Ramadan will start on Tuesday.
  • With just over two weeks to Britain's referendum on EU membership, new polls suggest that support for the Leave campaign is growing. According to an online survey by ICM, those wishing to exit the European Union are now at 48-percent, while those for remaining in the bloc stand at 43-percent.
  • NATO has kicked off its largest ever military drills in Poland. The exercises, involving over 31-thousand troops, will run for ten days. Russia has expressed concern over the war games, saying it will take adequate measures to counter NATO's eastward expansion.
  • Hilary Clinton secures the number of delegates required to win the US Democratic presidential nomination. According to an Associated Press figure, Clinton has won 2,383 delegates. If chosen as the Democratic party’s candidate, she will be the first American woman to be racing for the highest political position in the US.
  • At least two people have been shot dead during clashes between police and anti-government protesters in Kenya. Protesters have been holding demonstrations to demand the dissolution of Kenya’s electoral commission, which they say is made up of biased and corrupt members.
