NASA’s space telescope has made some historic discoveries. It has collected the largest finding of planets to date, that is 1,284 of them.

The new planets were identified during Kepler’s four-year primary mission. Nearly 550 of those planets are earth-sized.

The telescope also detected nine small planets within the habitable zone where conditions are favorable for liquid water and potentially life.

The announcement brings the total number of confirmed planets outside the solar system to more than 3,000.
