Trump would leak classified intelligence: US senator

US Senator Chris Murphy has attacked Donald Trump, the Republican Party’s presumptive presidential nominee, saying Trump would leak classified intelligence if he thought he could gain political advantage.

“He wouldn’t think twice of taking classified information and putting it out in the public realm if he thought it served his political purposes," Murphy,  the junior senator from Connecticut, told BuzzFeed on Thursday.

US presidential candidates traditionally receive classified briefings from intelligence officials during the campaign as part of the transition process.

James Clapper, director of National Intelligence, told reporters last week that there's already an "established plan" for briefing the presidential nominees of both the parties.

Murphy’s concerns

Murphy, a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said he is seriously concerned with the prospect of Trump having access to sensitive intelligence information.

Murphy, an outspoken critic of Russian President Vladimir Putin, claimed Trump has "no moral or ethical grounding" and said he was particularly concerned about Russia.

“Megalomaniacs find each other, I guess. I suspect Trump looks at Putin and sees a lot of himself," Murphy said of Trump and Putin who have praised each other. "You can just feel Putin reeling Trump in right now."

But it seems the classified information the Democratic senator expressing his concerns is not about  President Putin or Russia, but about the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks that killed thousands of Americans.

‘Elect me and you’ll find out who did 9/11’

Trump reportedly told his supporters on February 17, “Elect me and you’ll really find out who really knocked out the Twin Towers.”

“But it wasn’t the Iraqis, you will find out who really knocked down the World Trade Center. Because they have papers in there that are very secret, you may find it’s the Saudis, okay? But you will find out,” he added.

The September, 11, 2001 attacks, also known as the 9/11 attacks, were a series of strikes in the US which killed nearly 3,000 people and caused about $10 billion worth of property and infrastructure damage.

US officials assert that the attacks were carried out by 19 al-Qaeda terrorists – 15 of them were Saudi citizens -- but many independent researchers have raised questions about the official account.

They believe that rogue elements within the US government orchestrated the 9/11 attacks in order to accelerate the US war machine and advance the Zionist agenda.

Analysts argue that Saudi Arabia only played a minor role in 9/11, but the operation was essentially carried out by Israeli and American intelligence agencies to destroy the seven countries in five years, that were enemies or threats to the Zionist regime.

9/11 truth politically too explosive for Trump?

American scholar Dr. Kevin Barrett

Analysts say the full truth about the 9/11 Zionist coup d’état in the United States is probably too politically explosive for Trump to ever tell since it would destabilize the US political system.

American scholar Dr. Kevin Barrett, a founding member of the Scientific Panel for the Investigation of 9/11, told Press TV earlier this year that if the Republican presidential front-runner did that he would be immediately shut down and taken out physically or attacked quite brutally in the media.

“Donald Trump is getting a little bits and pieces of truth, but the full truth probably is too politically explosive for Donald Trump to ever tell – not that it would help him politically to tell it, because he would be immediately shut down and taken out—whether physically, by being killed, which certainly could happen, or by being attacked quite brutally in the media,” he said.

Steven D Kelley, a former CIA/NSA contractor, told Press TV in March that the entire US establishment is plotting to defeat Trump, because the maverick billionaire poses a threat to the New World Order.

He added that Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton “is the favorite of the New World Order.

White House’s reaction

White House spokesman Josh Earnest

Meanwhile, White House spokesman Josh Earnest told reporters Thursday that the Obama administration is not involved in the decisions about the classified briefings given to presidential candidates.

“The decision about what information to provide is a decision that will be made by the intelligence community. The White House will not be interfering in the decisions that are made by the intelligence community to provide information to the presidential candidates," he said.

Earnest said the Obama administration has confidence in Clinton's ability to receive classified briefings, but declined to say the same about Trump.

"Again, we'll have to see what decision the director of national intelligence makes. ... I can't offer my own assessment. Secretary Clinton has obviously served this administration with distinction. And she's got a lot of experience in understanding the need to protect classified information,” said the White House press secretary.
