Daesh-hackers post target list of New Yorkers: Source

A target list posted online by Daesh terrorists includes the names, home addresses and email addresses of some 3,000 New Yorkers.

Hackers linked to Daesh have posted online a list of thousands of people living in New York and asked the followers of the Takfiri group to target them, according to a source.

The list contains the names, home addresses and email addresses of some 3,000 New Yorkers, but some of the data is apparently outdated, according to the source, who was not authorized to discuss the investigation publicly.

The data also included private information of some employees with the State Department and Homeland Security.

The targets have been informed by Federal agents and New York City police of the posting, the source said, but added that police officials said there was no threat.

"While our standard practice is to decline comment on specific operational and investigative matters, the FBI routinely notifies individuals and organizations of information collected during the course of an investigation that may be perceived as potentially threatening in nature," the Federal Bureau of Investigation said.

"Potential threats may relate to individuals, institutions or organizations and are shared in order to sensitize potential victims to the observed threat, and to assist them in taking proper steps to ensure their safety," FBI spokeswoman Carol Cratty said Friday.

Since 2013, more than 70 individuals have been arrested in the United States for attempting to support the Takfiri group.

Daesh terrorists, who were initially trained by the CIA in Jordan in 2012 to destabilize the Syrian government, now control large parts of Iraq and Syria.

The group has conducted terrorist attacks in some other countries, including France and Belgium.

On November 13, 2015, the group launched a series of attacks in Paris, killing some 130 people and on March 22, they carried out attacks in Brussels, killing 32 people.
