These are some of the headlines we are tracking for you in this episode of On the News Line:

The ‘United States of Europe’

More signs have recently appeared to show that the European Union will in the future change the way we know it today. A new report by the British media says several EU countries have drawn up plans to create a federal ‘United States of Europe’ behind Britain’s back. The plan envisages the creation of a political union run by a single government.

Nagorno-Karabakh tensions

Tensions continue over the disputed region of Nagorno Karabakh, but not so much between the warring sides, but the foreign governments. Russia has strongly slammed Turkey’s stance on the crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh, accusing Ankara of seeking to ignite war in the region after the recent hostilities ended.

Ex-Qatari PM bombshell on Syria

Western and regional Arab states insist on describing as a revolution the sporadic, small anti-government protests in Syria back in 2011. But the recent interview of the former Qatari prime minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim Al Thani has given credence to the stance of those who reject the claim. Mainstream Western media did not give sufficient coverage to Sheikh Hamad’s bombshell but the London-based tycoon’s remarks have cast more doubt on the basics of what Syria’s enemies call a “revolution” in the country. Sheikh Hamad suggested that the Syria crisis was a political game and not a revolution.
