Press TV has interviewed E. Michael Jones, an editor of Culture Wars Online Magazine, to discuss the remarks made by Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, who said Israel’s arsenal of nuclear and chemical weapons is the “main threat” to the Middle East.

The following is a rough transcription of the interview.

Press TV: How do you feel about this threat that is posed by Israel’s nuclear arsenal?

Jones: Well I think it is right. What he said is true. First of all they are the weapons which are dangerous but the big issue is we need some type of universal rule of law here because the world has become a dangerous place and what you have with the Israelis is just their insistence on the fact that they will not follow the rules that everyone else is supposed to follow. There are one set of rules for the rest of the world and one set of rules for the Israelis. This has a corrupting effect on the rule of law throughout the world. That is the main problem.

Press TV: And how do you feel about the use of chemical weapons in Syria?

Jones: Well we went down this road. Remember there was a chemical gas attack, okay, and that was supposed to cause the red line that was supposed to be crossed and that was supposed to declare the no-fly zone and fortunately the Obama administration did not fall for that.

So yes, it is bad but the problem is you never know exactly who is using them. That is the problem and they can be used as a pretext to escalate the conflict and that is the other problem.

Press TV: It has been evidenced that Daesh has used chemical weapons against the Syrian soldiers for example for fighting against it. What is it to be said then about those who supply it with such weapons?

Jones: Well yes, this is a big issue and the fact that you have supplies like this means that eventually they are going to be used. So instead of working for the universal abolition of these things, you have certain groups of people who claim that they are exempt from the ordinary rules and that just perpetuates a bad situation and I am talking about the United States as well because what you see in United States is this Jewish influence where the United States becomes the exceptional nation and they do not follow the rules because the Jews do not follow the rules and it just goes on and on and on and perpetuates a bad situation.
