The UN has warned that infighting between Daesh and the al-Qaeda-linked al-Nusra Front group in Syria’s Palestinian Yarmouk refugee camp has resulted in a severe drop in the humanitarian conditions.

According to the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), the camp’s some 10,000 Palestinian refugees are facing starvation and dehydration due the warring Takfiri terrorists’ battle for control of the camp, which is located in southern Damascus.

"Whatever supplies of food and water they had have long been exhausted. Given the frequently intense fighting, the overwhelming risk of serious injury and death prevents civilians from leaving their homes to search for food, fetch water, or seek medical treatment for injuries," said UNRWA in a statement released on Saturday.

The UN body stated that according to reports from inside the camp homes and other civilian structures are being deliberately torched by the terrorists.

"The fighting has been intense, and is taking place in the most densely populated areas of Yarmouk, with the use of heavy weapons, explosive devices and weapons of indiscriminate effect."

UNRAW noted that the camp’s “precarious security situation” is even preventing aid missions to its surrounding areas.

Last week, Palestine Liberation Organization announced that Daesh had taken control of most of the camp after pushing out Nusra militants.

The terrorist takeover has been confirmed by the so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights and has been announced in Takfiri media outlets.

Last April, Daesh originally managed to seize parts of the camp with the help of its former al-Qaeda-affiliated ally.

The camp was once home to 160,000 Syrians and Palestinians, however; it has turned into a ghost town as a result of the violent attacks by anti-government militants over the past five years of tumult in Syria.

Takfiri shelling kills seven

Meanwhile, at least seven civilians were killed and many more were injured as terrorists attacked residential areas in Syria’s northwestern province of Aleppo.

Two people lost their lives as terrorists shelled the al-Khalediyeh and al-Athamiyeh neighborhoods. Earlier, four members of one family died in a rocket attack in the al-Midan neighborhood which also caused severe damage to public and private properties. Sniper fire also killed one civilian in the al-Shihan area

According to the Observatory, Daesh has launched an offensive against Syrian government troops as well as anti-government militants around Aleppo, which is strategically important to all sides in the conflict.

The UK-based monitoring group’s head, Rami Abdel Rahman, said Saturday that Daesh had captured several hilltops and villages surrounding the city.

"Daesh gains have cut off opposition territory around Azaz from rebels in the town of Dudyan further east," he added.

Syria has been gripped by foreign-backed militancy since March 2011. According to a February report by the Syrian Center for Policy Research, the conflict has claimed the lives of over 470,000 people, injuring 1.9 million others, and displacing nearly half of the country’s pre-war population of about 23 million within or beyond its borders.
