Newly-elected FIFA president Gianni Infantino has been implicated in football’s corruption scandal, based on documents emerging from the Panama Papers leak.

The documents indicate that while working for UEFA, Infantino signed-off on a TV rights deal with two Argentinean businessmen, namely Hugo and Mariano Jinkis, back in 2006.

The two immediately sold the TV rights for UEFA Champions League for almost three times the price. Both men have since been accused by US prosecutors of involvement in FIFA’s corruption scandal.

UEFA has denied any wrongdoing by any of its officials and Infantino says he is dismayed by reports questioning his integrity.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Swiss-Italian also denied any wrongdoing.
