US officials including the Secretary of the Treasury have issued a warning that the United States risks undermining its own credibility, like failing to move fast enough with regards to lifting the sanctions on Iran.
Trump controversies continue
According to Trump, the United States is spending too many resources shoring up rich allies around the globe, including on NATO. What's clear is that the central theme of Trump's foreign policy is isolationism. Trump has said that America should focus on domestic issues and stop bearing responsibilities for global security, or at least significantly reduce its overseas presence.
Assad's interview
In an interview with a Russian news agency, Assad has said the victories of the Syrian troops in Palmyra and elsewhere will accelerate the political settlement of the conflict. Assad also said the war has cost his country over 200 billion dollars. While keeping silent on the victories the Syrian troops are scoring against Daesh, the US and its allies have repeated their calls for Assad to step down.
