Israeli military forces have fatally shot a young Palestinian man who they said went on a stabbing spree along the Tel Aviv waterfront, killing an American national and wounding more than a dozen other people.

Israeli soldiers shot and killed the Palestinian youth, identified as 22-year-old Bashar Masalha and a resident of the town of Qalqilya in the occupied West Bank, on Tuesday in the Jaffa port area of the city, Safa news agency reported.

At least 14 people were allegedly wounded; and the American said to have been killed was identified by the US State Department as 29-year-old Taylor Allen Force, a US army veteran.

On Wednesday morning, an Israeli man sustained moderate injuries after unknown armed men opened fire on a bus carrying illegal settlers in the Israeli-occupied Old City of al-Quds.

Israeli forces immediately cordoned off the site of the attack, and ambulance workers were dispatched to the area to ferry the wounded to a nearby hospital.

Separately, an unnamed Israeli intelligent agent lost his life in a non-hostile incident close to the border fence with the besieged Gaza Strip.

Earlier on Tuesday, a Palestinian teenager was shot dead after he allegedly stabbed and wounded an Israeli man near the city of Petah Tikva, situated 10.6 kilometers (6.59 miles) east of Tel Aviv.

Another Palestinian was shot dead after allegedly firing gunshots at Israeli forces near Salah al-Din Street in occupied East al-Quds (Jerusalem), injuring two Israeli officers.

A 50-year-old Palestinian woman, identified as Fadwa Ahmad Abu Teir, was also killed near the Iron Gate in the Israeli-occupied Old City of al-Quds as she allegedly pulled out a knife. No Israeli injuries were reported.

The occupied territories have been the scene of heightened tensions since August 2015, when Israel imposed restrictions on the entry of Palestinian worshipers into the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East al-Quds.

Al-Aqsa Mosque is the third holiest site in Islam after Masjid al-Haram in Mecca and Masjid al-Nabawi in Medina.

More than 195 Palestinians, including children and women, have lost their lives at the hands of Israeli forces since the beginning of last October.
