Iranians clinch three wins in world table tennis championships

Iranian female and male ping pong players have achieved three tremendous victories in the Perfect 2016 World Team Table Tennis Championships in Malaysia.

On Sunday, Iranian women’s national table tennis team, comprised of Mahboubeh Omrani, Neda Shahsavari and Maryam Samet, pulled out a comfortable 3-0 win against the Pakistani squad in its opening encounter in the Malaysian capital city of Kuala Lumpur.

The Iranian sportswomen later eased past Sri Lanka 3-0 in a one-sided match.

The Iranian women’s national table tennis team is scheduled to play against Ethiopia on Monday.

Additionally, the Iranian men’s national table tennis team, consisting of brothers Noshad and Nima Alamian plus Afshin Norouzi, defeated Thailand 3-2 in its first fixture on Sunday.

Iranian male table tennis players will hold second and third matches against the Netherlands and Canada on Monday.

The Perfect 2016 World Team Table Tennis Championships opened in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on February 28, and will wrap up on March 6, 2016.
