Anti-Trump march held in Albuquerque
Protesters in the US State of New Mexico have staged a march against Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump over his incendiary rhetoric.
Hundreds of people marched through Albuquerque on Sunday, carrying placards condemning Trump and bigotry, with messages including: "Unite against hate. Stand against Trump and all bigotry."
Discussing the protest, one demonstrator said, "We want the country and the world to know that Trump's hate speech is very scary to all of us and we do not support it and we are looking for someone who can lead us without this kind of hate and division."
"Donald Trump is a person that has a lot of hate and I don't know where it came from in his life but I wish him well to go ahead and figure it out but please don't go ahead and impact the rest of us with your hate," AFP quoted another protester as saying.
The Republican hopeful has been criticized throughout his campaign for his stance on immigration, the refugee situation and Islam.
Back in December 2015, he received widespread condemnation after he called for a "total and complete shutdown" of all Muslims entering the US.
Despite his controversial comments, Trump continues to lead polls nationwide and is the current favorite to win the GOP nomination.
On Saturday, the former Apprentice star won the South Carolina Republican primary, taking 32.5 percent of the vote.
Marco Rubio finished in second place with 22.5 percent and Ted Cruz took third with 22.3 percent.
