Press TV has conducted an interview with E. Michael Jones, editor of Culture Wars Online Magazine in Indiana, and Said Shehata, a Middle East affairs expert in London, to discuss Saudi Arabia’s war crimes in Yemen.

Jones says Saudi Arabia is using the same “pattern of warfare” in Yemen which was created by the British in the Middle East, stressing that the Riyadh military has no new tactics in its attacks.

“The way the British Empire ruled the Middle East was by airstrikes. They would terrorize the local population and if that did not work, they put in a naval blockade,” he says.

He also highlights the “immortality” of the Saudi war on Yemen, slamming the “indiscriminate” use of weapon in the campaign, which has led to high civilian casualties.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Jones says Saudi Arabia is simultaneously funding wars all over the Middle East and doing the bidding of the United States in driving the oil price down.

He further argues it is time for the Saudis to take a step back and “rethink” their policies, which are based on those of the US and the UK.

“I think that clear, sober thought is going to have to take place within the House of Saud, and I think they are going to have to re-adjust their policies and the first place to start is a ceasefire in places like Syria, stop arming ISIS (Daesh) and stop attacking the Yemenis with their air force and their blockade,” he says.

The analyst adds that the Saudi ruling family cannot stand much longer if it pursues these policies which are causing misery, stressing that the regime in Riyadh has to take responsibility for its actions.

Shehata, for his part, believes the UK cannot drop its arms sale to Saudi Arabia unless there is “clear, concrete evidence” that the weapons were used against civilians in Yemen.
