Journey from northeast to northwest Iran

This video grab image shows Press TV’s reporter Reza Nayebi enjoying one of the many local treats in Semnan Province.

Semnan Province consists of many small villages that offer you a taste and a glimpse of how people live their everyday life. There’s none of the hustle and bustle that you see in big cities. Semnan is famous for its tasting breads, cheeses, caves, local folklore and lots of hospitality.

South Khorasan Province is Iran’s largest producer of barberries and saffron. Pomegranates are also among the main agricultural products of this region. We were lucky to arrive when farmers were busy picking saffron and witnessed the painstaking process of producing red gold!

This feature takes us from the northeast part of Iran to the northwest corner of the country. Here we visit the three major cities of Khorasan Province: Mashhad, Neishabur and Sabzevar. These cities are located on the ancient Silk Road and have played important roles in the cultural, economical and social exchanges between the East and the West.
