Two Iranian umpires to officiate at Qatar tennis games

Iranian tennis umpires Seyyed Adel Borghei and Shervin Safavi are going to officiate at the forthcoming ExxonMobil Open 2016 in the Persian Gulf kingdom of Qatar later this month.

On Tuesday, the International Tennis Federation (ITF), which serves as the the governing body of world tennis, invited the pair to umpire at the six-day international sports event.

The Qatar ExxonMobil Open 2016 will open at Khalifa International Tennis & Squash Complex in Doha on January 4, and will conclude on January 9.

The tournament will see World No. 1 seed Serbian Novak Djokovic, World No. 5 Spain’s Rafael Nadal, World No. 6 Tomas Berdych and defending Champion World No. 7 David Ferrer and France’s Richard Gasquet vying for top honors.

A total of 32 players will feature in singles field contests, while sixteen teams will compete in doubles.
