Mirza Taqi Khan Farahani, also known as Amir Kabir, was one of the most capable and noteworthy figures in the Qajar-era Iran. As Nasereddin Shah’s chief minister, Amir Kabir is known as Iran’s first reformer and a modernizer. He attempted to bring gradual reform to Iran but was murdered.
