Iranian professional footballer Sardar Azmoun has been linked with a move to the British professional football club Stoke City.

According to a report published by the Persian-language daily newspaper Jaam-e Jam, the Stoke-on-Trent-based team, which is the second oldest professional football club in the world after Notts County, is trying to sign the 20-year-old Iranian, who currently plays as a striker for FC Rostov on loan from Rubin Kazan in the Russian Premier League and the national Iranian men’s soccer team.

Rubin Kazan has, however, set a six-million-euro release clause for Azmoun, and is unwilling to sell the Iranian soccer talent. Manager of Rostov has also said that he will not allow the young footballer to depart the Russian football club.

Sardar Azmoun has been praised for his aerial ability, creativity, and bursts of acceleration. He has been referred to as a young Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Ibrahimovic is a Swedish professional footballer, who plays as a striker for French club Paris Saint-Germain, and captain for the Sweden national team.
