The Iranian women’s national roll ball team has claimed the third position at the end of the third edition of the Roll Ball World Cup in India after winning the Ugandan side.

On Saturday, the Iranian squad defeated Uganda 1-0 in a third-place game staged at the Shree Chhatrapati Shivaji Sports Complex in the Balewadi suburb of India’s western city of Pune.

The Kenyan roll ball team won the title after defeating the hosts 2-1 in the final match.

The third edition of the Roll Ball World Cup started in Pune on December 14, and will finish on December 20, 2015.

The competitions brought together 16 teams in the women’s section. A total of 33 teams from across the world vied for the top honor during the five-day event.

Roll ball is played on skates and between two teams of 12 players. Only six players out of the 12 are allowed to play on court at a time. A player can hold the ball in single hand or both hands, but must dribble the ball while carrying it. The game was created by Indian sports teacher Raju Dabhade in Pune, India. Dabhade is now the secretary of the International Roll Ball Federation.
