At least two people have lost their lives after a helicopter used for filming a reality show in the US television channel, MTV, crashed in Argentina, local officials say.

Gianni Venier, the security minister for Argentina’s Western province of Mendoza, said the Bell 206 chopper crashed about 30 kilometers (18.6 miles) from the city of Mendoza on Saturday.

Vernier further said that a pilot and a technician died in Saturday’s incident, adding, however, that it was unclear whether other people were aboard the aircraft at the time of the accident.

Rescuers found the wreckage from the aircraft some 60 meters (about 200 feet) underwater in an artificial lake on the Mendoza River.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

In a statement, MTV said the helicopter was working on a program called “The Challenge” and was flying to a shooting location when it went down.

It was the second accident this year involving a helicopter taking part in filming in the South American country.

Back in March, two helicopters carrying passengers filming a popular European reality show collided in a remote area near Villa Castelli in La Rioja Province, located about 1,170 kilometers (730 miles) northwest of the capital city of Buenos Aires.

The collision killed 10 people, including two Argentines and eight French citizens. Sailor Florence Arthaud, Olympiac swimmer, Camille Muffat, and boxer, Alexis Vastine, were three French athletes who lost their lives in the accident.
