Iranian rock climber collects bronze in Asia championship
Iranian rock climber Mehdi Alipour has finished in the third place at the 2015 International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) Asian youth Championship in Malaysia, clinching the bronze medal.
On Saturday, the Iranian sportsman participated in the male youth A speed competitions in the city of Putrajaya, located about 25 kilometers (15 miles) south of the capital, Kuala Lumpur, and managed to prevail over his compatriot, Ehsan Asrar, and pick up the bronze.
Singaporean climber Paul Emmanuel Ryan put on an awe-inspiring performance to take the top honor, and collect the gold medal.
Alimzhan Myrzabekov from Kazakhstan landed in the second position of the chart.
The 2015 International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) Asian youth Championship started in Putrajaya on December 3, and will wrap up on December 6.
The sports event has brought together dozens of male and female rock climbers from several Asian countries, including China, India, Indonesia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, and Thailand.
On October 17, Iranian rock climber Reza Alipour won the gold medal in the 2015 IFSC World Cup in China.
The Iranian sportsman achieved the top honor in the men’s speed record category in a tough competition with his Czech opponent Libor Hroza.
Bassa Mawem from France, Ukraine’s Danyil Boldyrev, Polish climber Marcin Dzienski, Russian athletes Aleksandr Shilov and Stanislav Kokorin, and Zhong Qixin from China claimed the third to eighth places.
