A hostage-taking situation in the northern French town of Roubaix has come to an end with all the hostages rescued, officials say.

Local authorities said on Tuesday that the hostages had all been moved to a "secure place" and several suspects had been arrested by the police.

Some reports say that one of the suspects was killed during police operations.

France remains on high security alert following the November 13 Paris attacks claimed by the Daesh Takfiri terrorists, which claimed the lives of some 130 people.

Police announced that the Roubaix incident was “apparently a robbery” and not terror-related.
